Everyday Luxe
Velvet, satin, silk—meet the fabrics of season, if not year. These typically dressy materials are breaking out of their formal form, making their way into the everyday wardrobes of style mavens everywhere. Fashion Fabrics Club has rounded up some easy and oh-so-chic ways to make everyday pieces out of these favorite luxe materials.
T-Shirt
One of the easiest ways to rock this trend is using velvet in the simple, and classic, t-shirt. Wear it exactly as you would your favorite cotton T—with jeans, with skirts, under blazers—and watch your outfit magically transform into a statement look. (Pro tip: Use crushed velvet for an even more laid-back vibe.)
Camisole
Those silk camisoles, once reserved for strictly underwear, are coming out of the boudoir and onto the chic streets. This piece is best paired with laid-back, textural pieces like distressed denim to offset the risqué appeal and to make it everyday-worthy.
Slip Dress
Take that satin slip dress you lived in last summer out of storage—with the right pairing it will carry you right through winter. Simply toss on a cotton long-sleeved T underneath and a pair of cool sneakers to keep things casual. (Cold weather? Simply swap the sneaks for a pair of boots and add tights.)
Blazer
The easiest way to make your go-to jeans-and-a-tee into a full-on look: the addition of a lustrous velvet blazer and killer set of heels. That’s some serious no-brainer chic.
Button-Up
The traditional button-up is a forever wardrobe essential, but in a silk it has a whole new vibe. It’s at the same time more relaxed and more refined with its slouchy structure and luxurious sheen.
