Power Red

The official color of fall 2017, power red made its debut on the runways by notable fashion designers including Dolce & Gabbana, Oscar de la Renta, and Givenchy—and that’s just to name a few. It seems the fashion set is trading in the cutesy millennial pink for something with more drama and power. A possible reaction to the current political climate? We think maybe.

Fur

Break out your grandmother’s mink; opulent fur coats are all the rage this fall. But don’t worry, if genuine fur isn’t your thing, today’s faux furs look and feel like the real thing, without the guilt. Insider tip: the more vintage the look, the better.

Plaid

Fashion designers are still mad about plaid, but for 2017 it’s all about the mod ‘70s vibe. Patterns feature dusty browns, burnt oranges, mustard yellows, and avocado greens in everything from long top coats to formal gowns to trousers.

Trench

This year, the classic trench finds a new favorite fabric: nylon. And that’s a big bonus for the frequent traveller, this packable piece takes up little room in the suitcase and the nylon keeps it from getting all wrinkled.

Velvet

A carryover from last year, the velvet trend remains a major crush among the fashion set. This year we’re seeing it in a lot of sophisticated jewel tones in more formal pieces, but in more laid-back pieces like a hoodie it’s an easy way to elevate everyday looks.
