Pantone Color of the Year: Ultra Violet
It’s official, the color gurus at Pantone have named the color of 2018: Ultra Violet. The vibrant hue represents “originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking,” says the color dream team, and it just so happens to complement nearly all skin tones. As a little guide to help you dip your toe into the trend, Fashion Fabrics Club has compiled a first look at how style mavens are already incorporating the cosmic shade into their looks.
Wool Coat
If your closet is mostly packed with neutrals, adding an ultra violet wool coat to the mix would be an easy addition—an instant update to every basic and go-to look in the rotation (not to mention incredibly cozy, too!).
Jumpsuit
The jumpsuit is the essential one-piece that delivers at every stop: polished, put-together, no thinking needed, no extras necessary. I.e. it’s the ultimate hit-snooze-too-many-times-but-still-have-to-make-it-to-work-on-time piece. In a purple silk-like fabric, it feels more feminine without compromising its powerful vibe.
Blazer
A major benefit of this new color obsession is that it’s at the same time soft and feminine, and also bold and striking. This makes it an easy pick to dress up for work or down for weekends. Take this violet suiting fabric blazer for example, this look is great for every day, but a simple jean swap for a skirt, and it’s instantly office-ready.
Moto Jacket
When a moto jacket is rendered in a luxe material and rich hue, it becomes so much more than a simple motorcycle jacket—it becomes a statement. Cue the new “it” color in lush faux suede, just thing to up the ante on one of your favorite staples.
