Playing Up Plaid
Just like black, plaid is eternally chic, and the fall to winter transition is the perfect time to start introducing it back into your wardrobe in a major way. Here are six of Fashion Fabrics Club’s favorites:
Leggings
A patterned legging is an interesting (and incredibly comfortable) way to bring in visual interest to a look. Try a stretch plaid twill, this larger checked plaid makes legs look lean, and you can dial down the drama by layering on a long tunic and wearing a pair of high boots.
Wool Coat
Plaid in a thick wool fabric makes for the perfect fall/winter coat. Go for more muted colors to keep things easy to match.
Button Up
A plaid flannel button up is a great, versatile, addition to your arsenal. Wear it as the top layer, as a focal to the look, or underneath a chunky sweater to give just a peek of a fun pattern.
Pencil Skirt
Plaid gives pencil skirts a fun vibe while still keeping professional and mature. Use a cotton plaid keep the form-fitting silhouette breathable.
Blazer
Blazers don’t always have to be solid black or navy, a fun plaid is a playful twist on the classic piece. Go for a twill plaid it keeps its structure, there’s nothing worse than wrinkly lines.
Oversized Scarf
An oversized lightweight plaid scarf is a must-have for the season. Toss it on over the top of an outfit, wrapped around the neck for extra warmth. Or, on a warmer day, drape it over the shoulder and cinch it with a belt over the top for a chic little vest.
