Red, Red Wine
Trend Report: wine is fall’s “it” color.
Fall’s color pallet is full of rich and full-bodied wine shades: Burgundy, Chianti, Marsala. And it happens to be the perfect pairing to all of fall’s other darker shades. Here are five ways to rock the wine trend.
Just a Drop
Not ready to take a full dive into the deep shade? Try a Burgundy-colored scarf in a chunky wool knit. It’s an instant update to a chambray button-up, black skinnies, and lace-up booties.
Go for Tasteful
Wine at work may be frowned upon, but a rich Chianti blazer in a cotton twill is a refined way to bring the trend to the office. Bonus: it can be worn as a coat with an oversized scarf on chilly fall days.
Tried and True
The wine trend is sure to carry into winter; so nabbing a burgundy wool tweed jacket now will be well worth the investment. Wear it in fall with denim and a pair of ankle booties, and in the winter with leggings and over-the-knee boots.
Try a Blend
Dare to try something a little different? Combine the grunge trend with the wine trend. Pair a Marsala-colored swingy mini skirt in a slinky charmeuse with a chunky, slouchy knitted sweater, a pair of translucent black tights, and killer pair of black combat boots.
Fill it Up
The great thing about this color trend is that it looks incredibly chic when tone-on-tone pieces are layered on in one outfit. Try a rich red wine oversized sweater or sweater dress with a matching cashmere pashmina and layer on the matching extras: handbag, hat, and matching lipstick.
