Dressing for Memorial Day
Showing your patriotic pride this Memorial Day weekend doesn’t have to be tacky. In fact, with the right fabrics and the right pairings, a red-white-and-blue ensemble can be totally chic. Here are Fashion Fabrics Club’s five favorite looks, from casual to dressup, to help inspire your weekend wardrobe.
Buttoned Up
Cropped red denim skinnies and a blue-and-white striped cotton button up is a preppy twist on red, white, and blue. To give this menswear-inspired ensemble a feminine twist, pair with a killer set of bare sandals.
Mixed Up
A combination of patterns is a fun way to shake up the patriotic pallet. Try a navy top with a fun, seaside print (think: anchors and sailboats) and a red-and-white stripped midi satin skirt. Just add pumps, and go.
Office Ready
Have a client meeting on Memorial Day? Go pro with the red, white, and blue: a red twill blazer over a light blue gingham button up with a pair of white wide-leg trousers.
Go Classy
A less obvious way to pull off the look is to use a pattern other than stripes or stars. Try a large floral print in a stretchy cotton, high-waisted pencil skirt with a red short sleeved crop top sweater.
Laid-back
Headed to a BBQ, chilling poolside, or just hanging out with some friends? Make it casual with a simple cotton T in red and blue stripes, and simple white denim shorts.
